Plot
in early 1979 in the fictional town of Lillian, Ohio.Joe 13 years old boy, his mother, who died in industrial accidents. Joe looked confused because of the loss of his mother, sitting on a swing holding her mother's locket, which contains a picture Joe as an infant. his father, an alcoholic, his mother was a kind woman willing to see the best in everyone and did not want Louis to be fired, he stayed to cover the shift that day. Unfortunately, thus resulting in a fatal himself crushed by steel beams.
Then Louis Dainard (Ron Eldard) drive down to Joe's house is messy and looks sick he makes his way up the driveway, saw him in the eye just before he entered the house. After a few short moments yelling and breaking dishes sound can be heard from inside. The front door banged open with Joe's father encouraged Dainard down the stairs in handcuffs. Dainard placing a patrol vehicle in the back seat, Joe's father stopped to see her son. Visibly upset, he told Joe to stay and he'll come back later.
Four months later, as summer vacation begins, Alice, although she had no driving license, using his father's car to take Joe and his friends Charles (Riley Griffiths), Preston (Zach Mills), Martin (Gabriel Basso), and Carey (Ryan Lee) to the old train station. There, the group is low zombie movie shooting scenes of Charles' budget on Super 8 film. During shooting, the witness Joe's pick-up trucks drive into the track towards an approaching train, which caused a large derailment. Dr. Woodward (Glynn Turman), their biology teacher, behind the wheel of a truck. He ordered them to never talk about what they see - otherwise they and their parents would be killed.
Children also see some form of powerful beings to work its way out of the train. Children approach the truck and found

Joe's father, Jackson (Kyle Chandler) went to the airbase to find out the incident described in his city. When the creature reached for Joe, he says the creature: "bad things happen, and that no one's fault ... I'm sorry." Beings, because telepathic abilities through touch, grasp and release Joe, as the ship began to take form around the town water tower. Joe Necklace, abandoned by his mother as a memento to him after his death, he sucked also decided to let it go. The film ends with the ship blasting into the star of the creature's home planet.
